United American Confederation

“It is through a United American Confederation that communism can be realized, and a stepping stone be provided for the universal union.”

In the pursuit of a communist society- one glaring issue has always prevented its establishment; the continued existence of capitalism, leaching away at humanity’s will. Various suggestions are made to combat this, to facilitate the realization of such a society. There rests the ideal of the socialist transition-state, an entity which shall exist until the world can be liberated from capitalism, and then allow for the transition to the stateless, moneyless, classless society of which is the ideal. Of this idea rests the idea of socialism in one state, the belief that the socialist state can exist alone until separate revolutions create the conditions needed for communism. Alongside this rests continual revolution- the belief in the revolution never ending until the world is freed from the shackles of capitalism.

Running counter to these ideas is the ideal of a global revolution, wherein the working class of the entire world come together to severe the chains which tether them unjustly. With this comes the fantasy adopted by pacifists- the idea in which mass disengagement is able to occur without an armed struggle taking place. Between all these ideals many approaches exist; temporary concessions in the pursuit of continual revolution, starting off points in anticipation of global revolution. These concessions are, first and foremost, the divisor which distinguishes the anarchists from the leninists- as communism remains the same regardless of ideology, with the approach to realize it being the only observable difference, in practice and on paper.

Yet a concept seldom spoke of authentically is the idea of a unified socialist America- a supercontinent, in which a confederation of socialist transitionary states exist, to dissolve jointly into the communist society upon the liberation of the Americas from capitalist intervention. Through the joint effort of all Americans in the resistance to imperialistic capitalism, communism can be realized.

This is especially important as we look to the history of the Americas; the history which is forever marked by the colonial expansion of the English, France, Spanish, and Portuguese. Wherein which the colonists pushed the indigenous from their homes, leading to the deaths of millions. Creating a minority from those who were here before any others! It is with this desecration that we can see clearly; the borders which the settler-states enjoy today are not painted naturally, but are instead impositions arising from the imperialist powers who robbed the indigenous, and then betrayed the settlers whom they sent to do the deed.

Cultures arose surrounding these false borders, imposed by foreign powers not well versed in the affairs of the new continent. Yet with all their differences, the culture of the Americas can still appear unified. May it be a French Speaker from Quebec, a Spanish Speaker from the Andes, or a Tzeltal Speaker in the Chiapas, the same dominant undercurrent of culture remains; the pursuit of recognition, of liberation, and of equality. Yet built on these borders drawn by Lords and Nobles afar, we based our identities and divide the people- a people who can be unified to better pursue their future.

It is thus that the borders much be dissolved! Through a Confederation of American Socialist States, wherein autonomy is given to its tributary states- and yet union in economy, affairs, and resistance can allow the working class of the Americas to unify in opposition to the capitalist forces. It is through such a union that the Americas can become a safe haven for the disenfranchised and the persecuted- a safe haven built on the values which unify all peoples, which will unify the Americas.

It is through such a confederation which those with differing strategy can unite. It may allow a socialist state in the North to unify with a spontaneous uprising in the South, and provide a corridor for the anarchists to lead a revolution in their country, while the marxist-leninist leads one in their own, and to still extend solidarity. It provides a just framework in which the libertarian marxists, the council communists, the pure leninists, and the trotskyists to offer mutual support and solidarity without leading to betrayal.

It is through a United American Confederation that communism can be realized, and a stepping stone be provided for the universal union.
