Supplement-Deficit Correlation

“...we can identify a core tenet of capitalist society; selectively imposed deficits.”

Capitalism has conditioned us in such a way that many are hard pressed to comprehend even the notion of an alternative system that could be employed. It has stripped us of the simple human nature that is to question the world around us; It has taught us that those who question, starve, and those who obey, are rewarded. And it is for that- that we find ourselves at a crossroads in the communist struggle. If we, the people, are to truly realize a stateless, moneyless, classless society, then that must first begin with a redefinition of such a society- one in which those indoctrinated by the capitalist ideal are able to understand. Many attempts at this have been written- yet all fail due to one simple reason; They find themselves reliant on debunking the myth of individualism, as they rely on the notion of a collectivist society- a society which, for any who calls themselves an advocate should be clear, is a far cry from the society the people live within, especially in North America. A result of this is that the societies which have achieved communism – whether true or supposed – has been those found in the periphery or semi-periphery of the western world- societies which find themselves at a struggle for the essentials, which communism offers them in return.

However, the people of the west find their physical needs largely supported, and because of this we can identify a core tenet of capitalist society; selectively imposed deficits. These deficits are the means through which capitalism is able to maintain its grip on society first and foremost- through the imposition of deficits. Of these deficits, there are three which can be identified as the primary means of control: physical, intellectual, and social. Importantly, these three deficits are also the three core mechanisms within communism; In communism, these are the three needs of the people- the three foundational requirements which communism seeks to provide. In a way, these can be seen as the three supplements of communism- the inverse of their application and use-cases in the capitalist system. And it is for this that we can identify the deficit-supplement correlation; A core idea in the understanding of communism from the capitalist mindset, which is that communism and capitalism are not opposites – nor enemies – but are rather inversions, or rather separate takes, on the same core ideas.

Of the first deficit, that being the deficit of physical needs, it is the easiest to define and present to those indoctrinated by capitalism; It is when the foundational needs (which has been repeatedly identified, by both capitalists and anti-capitalists alike, as food, water, and shelter) are not met in full for the people. In the capitalist system, this deficit is the driving motivation behind labour, participation, innovation- and the primary mechanism of control. Each of these needs cost capital, and as the only way to receive capital is through participation in the capitalist system, and it is through this that the deficit is justified; As it is framed as being required in order to motivate incorporation into society against the (according to the capitalist view) lazy people. Yet under the system of communism, these needs becomes a supplement. Meaning; These needs are provided regardless of participation or incorporation into any system at large (which is also a core tenet of voluntary association).

The deficit of intelligence – of which is the most manipulative – can be seen by some as clearly as the physical deficit, while others (most notably those ‘gifted’ by the capitalist system) fail to recognize it as urgently. However, this deficit is which exerts the remainder into complacency. This deficit is not justified- instead, it is simply used. It is used in two primary ways; The first way is through selectively offering education and innovative thought to those within the higher classes. They do this by imposing a cost onto education, and portraying it as optional in nature, rather than a human need. The second way in which they use it, and the most manipulative, is by withdrawing education from any deemed ‘vulnerable’ to the ideals of communism; Those who suffer from physical deficit, as their physical needs take precedent; Those who must commit crimes (due to physical deficit), as their access to education becomes restricted; Those who already threaten social norms, as discrimination effects their access. Under communism, however, this becomes the core function; Communism itself is built on the idea of intellect- the idea that all should be intelligent and recognize their suffering.

The final deficit is the social deficit. And the social deficit is the most hidden; It is the restriction of an individual in participating in society as a whole. This is the means through which capitalism reinforces itself. If an individual falls victim to any of the prior to deficits- then they are at fault and are provided the social deficit. If an individual does not work (through choice, or through consequence), then they are provided the social deficit. And if an individual does not obey- then they are ostracized by the social deficit. The social deficit, however, is not exclusively under capitalist control; And it may never consolidate under one systems control. While the social deficit does exist- it exists as the social supplement as well, regardless of system it exists in. If someone is struggling- the people provide. If someone is lonely- the people interact. This is important for communism; As it is the only deficit which communism employs, and the only supplement capitalism provides
